The last blog I did was really interesting to me because I chose to change my format of blogging. I am now including both gay and straight couples in my discussion on labels. I find this easier because my topic discussion can be more connective to my crowed. Expanding my audience will be a bonus to my blogging views and stand points because it opens up more doors for discussion. Before I changed my typical format of writing I had a difficult time expanding in to detail my topic and relevance to the reader. I also like that I am now making connections between gay and straight couples. There is really no huge difference between the couples other than dating some one of the same sex.

I will continue to relate both types of couples in my blog and try to find interesting issues and how different and similar each couple would deal with the situation in hand. The reader of my new format will be able to see that I am really trying to push them to see the connections between couples and their general actions committed to deal with them.

what i took from blogging..

Throughout the semester of this English course we were graded on numerous things, yet the assignments that were worth the most were the blog post. In class we were told to write eleven-blog post, which that seven of the post were about any topic you wanted to write about and the other four-post were about a certain issue that was related to your topic.  After writing a few post on restaurants in the city, I started to get use to blog writing and finally understood how to connect with the audience. If i were to brag about one of my best written post on a restaurant, it would have to be the blog post, a small restaurant in a BIG city. This post was about a sports grill restaurant that had just opened recently, and I go on to talk about how little people know about this restaurant. The restaurant I talk  about in the post really deserve more credit, because the food and the service couldn’t be any better. I felt that this was the best written blog post that i had written all semester. Even though I got a 90% percent on the post, I felt that it was the only post that had very little error. I used all the feedback that our professor gave me, so I could write a well written post.

I really enjoyed the topic that I wrote about, which was food restaurants in the Bay Area. I learned many things from this class, such as how to write and set up a blog post, and I also learned about many new food restaurants all around the Bay Area. Some helpful tips that I have learned along the way when I was learning how to write a successful blog about food, was that a blogger should look up reviews of the restaurant by using Yelp. Another helpful tip that I learned is that adding a vivid description and pictures to your blog makes your post come alive. The readers of your blog will think that your blog is boring if it’s just all text, so you should make it more appealing by adding some pictures in the post you write. Those were just a few tips that i learned in my many months of writing blogs for this English course. I have seen my blog writing skills increase a bunch, and believe it or not I actually enjoy writing blogs now, so I’m thinking about continuing to write blogs even though I’m not required too. I had a fun time learning all the skills of this class and I have recommended to many people to try to start blogging.

a new experience with blogging..

Coming into this semester’s English class I was told that I was going to be writing blog posts about any topic that i took interest in. Once I heard the news from the teacher that this was going to be a blogging class, I became very worried about my grade and I was thinking about dropping the class. The only thing that stopped me from dropping the class was the fact that I took this course as a priority class, so I figured if I dropped the class then all the other english classes would probably be full. I took a chance with staying in this class and I  gain a new skill that I could use in the near future. Now, coming into this class I was aware of what people doing when they blogged, yet I was still confused on how to put the pictures on the blog and how to link sites in the blog. Thankfully our professor took the time to explain how to do all that stuff in a calm manner, and if we ever needed help he would be there after class to help up. It was a couple of weeks into the course and our teacher brought up in class that we would be writing our first blog post that week, and to be honest I was nervous, because this would be my first post I have ever written in my life.

After writing my first blog I told myself that blogging couldn’t be that hard, and I was feeling good about my first post that I had written that week. Later do I find out that I get a horrible grade on the post, because i didn’t connect to audience/readers. the thing that I’m thankful for was how our professor wrote comments when he graded our post. I believe that if he never wrote any comments and just gave us a grade, that I would have never gotten any better at writing blogs. his knowledge and understanding of writing blogs truly rubbed off on me because with all his helpful tips I ended up getting pretty skilled at writing blogs. I’m glad I stuck with this class, because it has open my eyes to the world of blogging.

Blogging About Blogging

David Ogilvy is a very successful advertiser, who wrote a blog about 7 tips to create an effective blog. The first tip David gives is to make sure you have an engaging headline. A headline is what captures the reader’s attention, and can either make them want to read what you have to say, or keep on scrolling down the page. His second tip is to divide your writing into subheads in order to break up your paragraphs, and make it easy to read. The next tip is to always include pictures, and captions with your pictures. This way readers can get a visual of your blog, and understand what you are getting at. He also suggests to know who your audience is , that way your writing will come off as more effective to it’s demographic. He also suggests only write what is necessary, its quality that matters, not quantity. He also suggests that not only should you write about an issue, but you should suggest a way for people to become more involved.Lastly David states it is key to be as informative as you can. Pass along knowledge and show that you did your research and that you actually know what you are talking about.

 

I think that all of these tips are very useful. Blogging can be a difficult process, so it  is essential that every blogger try to make their blog as reputable as possible. I think I agree most with making it evident that you are an informed writer. Nobody wants to read a blog in which the author is not quite sure what they are talking about.

Metablog post 2

My process of writing blogs is to search for an article that was important, interesting, and other people could relate to. Then I would find back round information to back up my point about the article. Once I felt that I had enough information, I sat down and wrote what I felt, believed, and gave the reader background information so they understood the article.

This method seamed to help me.

Blogging

I found a blog page on hotels and its kind of an ad for the hotels around the US. That is how my Blog 2 is like as well. My third blog is about how hotels bring problems to our environment but also, how we can fix those problems. For these assignments our blogs are supposed be a conversation, instead of facts and brochures so the blog page I found isnt any help for my assignment.

How to capture a reader…

So I came across a blog post, one that was called “7 Powerful ways to get your Blog post Noticed.” written by a “guest Blogger”

As I was reading the post, I kept on thinking to myself, Am I following these rules? Do I write my blogs in this format? The first “Tip” that the post was talking about in order to grab the reader’s attention is that you must refer to to the subjects in the post as “you.” For example, if you are writing a question, you don’t want to say, “Would i buy that?” but rather, “would YOU buy that?”

That may sound a little confusing, but in the end it makes sense. People will always be more interested if something is about them rather than about others. All I can say is that my blogs include a good mix of both “you” and “I”

Another tip given in this blog, was how well packaged your blog is, A.K.A are there pretty pictures? Well, if you ask me, my blogs are about traveling and I don’t know what is prettier than the pictures I have posted of the many cities in Europe.

Now this next tip is probably the one that I have achieved the most and have been able to do “master” it. The tip is to have “down to earth practicality.” I definitely feel that is a characteristic I have portrayed in all of my blogs. I’m not here to school people on what exactly to do. I just want to help the readers with step by step rules in order for a successful trip.

If this blog is correct in terms of having a successful blog, I’m more than sure that I have done a good job with it.

 

improving as a blogger,prompt#2

Where to eat?!

I believe that my blog post above best describes and exemplifies how much I have improved as a writer. This post contains everything I hoped to have conveyed to my reader, which was knowledge, imagery, and creativeness. I didn’t want to bore my reader to death, especially with the fact that I was writing about something so interesting as travel.
I like the fact that I was able to give my readers tips on what to do, but I didn’t over bear them with a lot of information. I felt as though my information to everyone was straight and to the point.
I didn’t try to over word any tip or any bit of info, because I knew that way, reader would just daze off and wouldn’t care about what I was saying.
In terms of imagery, I think that I have definitely learned what types of images to post in a blog. I know that may sound a bit weird and people won’t believe that it is a bit more difficult to choose images but it is!I learned that choosing the right images, especially ones that can help the flow of your blog is extremely important.
In terms of creativity, I thought that maybe speaking to my readers rather than just spitting out information was a way to intrigue anyone who came across this blog. It was a form of writing that I definitely wasn’t used to, but with this blogging experience, I definitely feel that I have gotten a lot better with that.
I do believe that with this 3 month time span I have definitely improved as a blogger

Metablog Post 2

Over the course of this semester, I have seen progression with the writing of my blog posts. At the beginning when I was introducing my blogs and talking about the definition of my topic, which was Childhood Obesity, my writing was not that amazing. I knew I needed work so I tried harder throughout the course when I wrote my blogs. The blog posts that I am most proud with are my Series Post. All four of them I used for important information and organized them very well.

In my first series blog post, What Childhood Obesity Can Lead To: Part 1,  I talked about the serious affects that childhood obesity can lead to when older. For example, people can have heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and many more health risks. This is not an easy thing to deal with especially when being obese. In my second series blog post, What Childhood Obesity Can Lead To: Part 2, I talked about how serious obesity can be which can lead to depression and even suicide. Everybody has problems with being self-conscious but when people are obese it can cause much more self-esteem issues. In my third series blog post, What Childhood Obesity Can Lead To: Part 3,  I talked about when people who are obese tend to be lazy and do not have much energy to do things. If more people were not as obese, they would have a much easier time to get the things they want to be done out of the way. In my last series blog post, What Childhood Obesity Can Lead To: Part 4, I concluded my blog, pretty much talking about everything I had talked about in all of my blog posts. This was a good ending to my blog because childhood obesity is such a serious issue in which these people really need help.

In these four blog posts, I really tied everything together, showing how important childhood obesity really is. These people need help and nobody is helping them. I thought I did a good job wrapping up my whole entire blog because I feel like I said everything that needed to be said. Hopefully people liked my blog posts because I worked very hard and my progression got better throughout the course.

I found a really helpful blog on tips for blogging that will make readers enjoy reading your blog more. A lot of them were tips that we learned in class including using pictures and short paragraphs so that the blog is more visually appealing, and how to use emotion to your benefit. The blog warns against using language or statements that could be offensive to people or rub them the wrong way and to instead use words that are appealing to most readers. This reminded me of when we talked about using pathos and emotional appeal in writing. This blog is specifically helping one to blog about marketing a product and what phrases and words such as “free” or “proven” attract readers. These are really helpful tips for the future if I ever decide to have another blog that I want a lot of people to read or I am trying to market a product.
